Happy New Year!

It’s a well-worn tradition that, at the start of each new year, we undergo a period of introspection and decide upon a set of goals that we believe will make our lives better (or at least make us feel better about ourselves).

It’s also pretty much a given than any such resolutions are quickly forgotten once we manage to make it to February.

I pretty much gave up on New Years Resolutions a long time ago. It’s not that I no longer believe that I should make the effort to better myself. It’s more that I’ve come to accept how often I’ve tried and failed in such endeavors.

This year (2026) I’ve decided to push myself to do some things that I’ve been meaning to try. No pressure, no “goals”, and absolutely no resolutions. I’d rather do something because I want to do it than to satisfy a self-imposed rule that could have been made at any time of the year.

So yes. I’ve not made any resolutions this year.

But I do want to write more. And probably draw.

Creatively speaking, 2025 wasn’t a great year for me. I might write about that at some point. Glaucoma, a double trabeculectomy and further eye issues hasn’t really helped me want to draw much. Or is that an excuse?

It’s probably an excuse, at least in part.
